The Sony IMX989 sensor is rumored to be in Nubia’s first smartphone

According to information provided by a tip, Nubia is developing a new smartphone with a much enhanced camera. a picture of a prototype that was exposed online next to the manufacturer’s current Nubia Z50S Pro smartphone. According to the tipster, the unreleased smartphone is shown to have a significantly larger back camera module than the Nubia Z50S Pro. This module will contain a 35mm camera with a 1-inch type sensor. The business has not yet provided any information on its plans to introduce a new smartphone.

Weibo user Digital Chat Station, who provided the tip, published a picture of what appears to be the flagship Nubia smartphone. The Nubia Z50S Pro, which was released in China last month, is seen next to the prototype. Both phones look virtually identical, with the exception of the larger back camera module on the unannounced variant, suggesting that the firm may introduce it as the top-of-the-line model in the Z50S series.

According to Digital Chat Station, the future smartphone from Nubia will have a 35mm camera with a 1-inch type sensor. The tipster claims that the primary camera on the device will feature a Sony IMX989 sensor and that the business will need to “optimise volume” before releasing the smartphone, which might happen at a later time.

It is clear from a simple size comparison of the two smartphones that the Nubia prototype’s 1-inch type sensor needs a lot more room than the Nubia Z50S Pro’s 1/1.49-inch camera sensor.

It appears that customers will need to use the next Nubia smartphone with a rear cover to protect the protruding module, similar to Google’s Pixel 6 and Pixel 7 series of smartphones, even if the latter’s rear camera module also somewhat protrudes outside the rear panel.

Aside from the camera, the Nubia Z50S Pro and the future smartphone appear to be strikingly similar, suggesting that they may have identical specifications. The device, which debuted in China in July, has a 6.78-inch AMOLED screen with a 120Hz refresh rate and a maximum brightness of 1,200 nits, a 50-megapixel triple back camera array, and Qualcomm’s newest Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 SoC.
